New Software Blog
In 2009 Tekmap Consulting created a blog to provide information on the software under active development by Tekmap. With recent upgrades to the Tekmap website, the software blog has been moved. The blog can now be accessed directly under the main website. All entries from the old blog have been moved to the new site, and all new entries will be included here.
New YouTube Channel
Tekmap is pleased to announce that it has opened a new YouTube© account. The Tekmap YouTube© account will feature animations and demonstrations created by Tekmap Consulting. The YouTube© content is mirrored in the Tekmap Movie Gallery.
The gallery content will highlight the type of animation products prepared by Tekmap Consulting. It will also demonstrate the 3D rendering capabilities of the open source GIS GRASS.
Custom Touchscreen Kiosk Using NASA World Wind
Using the open source NASA World Wind, Tekmap has developed a dual monitor touchscreen public kiosk. The project was developed for the Geological Survey of Canada and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
SHLS Survey of Tailings Pond and Pit
Over a two day period in June 2011, Tekmap Consulting used the SHLS to map a shallow tailings and polishing pond and pit. Depths in the tailings and polishing ponds ranged from < 1m to 4m. Depths in the pit ranged from < 1m to 51m.
In total, over 200,000 soundings were collected using the SHLS.
